You’re wasting man hours writing blogs with irrelevant trailing urls, no headers, internal hyperlinks, Alt tag on images and writing under the assumption “Any blog is good for SEO”.

In today’s competitive online landscape, it’s more important than ever for businesses to have a strong SEO content writing strategy. By investing in training for your team, you can give them the skills they need to create high-quality content that will attract visitors to your website and boost your Google visibility and outrank your competitors.

These are taken from my training notes over a decade ago, and although I have tweaked them for unique content, the same rules apply for 2023.

Tuition will begin in advance by agreeing search phrases in advance with your Manager. This allows for a live demonstration of how to structure on-page elements in order of priority

  • Use long-tail keywords: Long-tail keywords are more specific than short-tail keywords. This means that they are less competitive and easier to rank for in Google. For example, instead of using the keyword “marketing”, you could use the long-tail keyword “how to market a small business in the UK”.
  • Write for humans, not for search engines: When writing your blog articles, it’s important to remember that you’re writing for people, not for search engines. This means that your articles should be well-written and informative, and they should avoid keyword stuffing. For example, instead of using the same keyword over and over again, you could use synonyms and related keywords.
  • Use keywords in your title, meta description, and throughout your article: Your title, meta description, and body content should all include your target keywords. This will help Google understand what your article is about and rank it for relevant searches. For example, your title could be “How to Market a Small Business in the UK: A Guide for Beginners”.
  • Use images and videos in your blog articles: Images and videos can help to break up your text and make your articles more visually appealing. They can also help to improve your SEO performance by giving Google more content to index. For example, you could add an image of a business owner to your article about how to market a small business.

Craft compelling, punchy H2 headlines that reflect your company voice and purpose. Always think of what job titles you want to introduce yourself to.

One example is recruitment, this will either be a Hiring Manager or the Candidate. Make it very clear in your copy which audience you are trying to resonate with the most, either B2B or B2Candidate.

For eCommerce you’re speaking directly with consumers on a B2C level. Nuances like these should be clear. Alt tags on images are essential on every website, however with eCommerce you’ll stand out in Google Lens and Discover if you rename your file before you upload it on site, then add a corresponding Alt tag – double the meta data.
